About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Current crowdfunding platforms only allow you to contribute in cash and kind. However, many campaigns are not successful, not because the people who view the campaign do not support it but due to the fact that many people are busy and see the donating process to be tedious and time consuming. Viewers see the donation process to be risky, hassle-some. Many do not donate because they dont have bank accounts, cards or simply not enough money.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Personalized page for the needy persons cause will be provided where they can write out their situation, circumstances and description of the healthcare they need. Viewers and supporters will then be able to contribute with their time by viewing advertisements, filling out paid surveys and other small tasks. The trickle effect with hundreds and thousands of micro amounts will be combined and will eventually be contributed towards the treatment of the person. Supporters can share the link of the cause to their social media and create a snowball effect. People need only to visit the cause and view any number of ads/tasks they feel comfortable with. This will enable people to raise required funds much quicker and with less hassle.

Salman in Pakistan has lung cancer. He is a laborer and earns barely enough to put food on the table . He needs funds for his treatment on an urgent basis. Ali, one of his friends puts up his cause on "Health Aid" and shares the cause on facebook and twitter. Sarah like many of Ali's friends, sees the link, follows it and learns about it. She then launches an applet that allows her to watch ads or do paid surveys. The geo-time based ads typically pay from one cent to 5 cents per ad. Sarah in turn shares the campaign on her network appealing to contribute atleast 10 seconds of a persons time (time for a small ad). In a few days this snowball effect reaches millions around the world and funds for Salmans treatment are raised successfully.

Projected future impact: Hundreds and thousands of people who need urgent healthcare will be able to raise funds The concept of fundraising is revolutionized People are able to make real meaningful change using social media People too hesitant to donate otherwise will have no problem contributing just 10 seconds of their time. Advertisers will be able to better get their message across since this time the viewers are voluntarily watching the advertisment in the first place and due to the emotional element involved since the viewer knows that the advertisers are in a way paying for the healthcare of the person in need. NGO's will be able to raise funds using the true power of their supporters People can make contributions without spending a dime!

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

Firstly we need to acquire funding to setup the platform and to design the algorithms to deliver relevant, age specific, interest based and geography specific ads. Advertisers need to be taken aboard who can benefit from quality and direct advertisement. Google adsense, chikita and other platforms may be integrated. Promoting the platform across NGO's and individuals. Making an app so that people can contribute at ease during travel, leisure and the ease of being anywhere.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

The platform will be charging 7% of the total raised as fees to maintain the platform.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There are innumerable crowdfunding websites out their like launchgood, kickstarter, indiegogo, gofundme etc etc. However this groundbreaking idea of fundraising like explained before has never been done by any one (as far as my experience and knowledge goes)

Founding Story

I used to surf the internet and browse so many fantastic causes on sites like kickstarter and launchgood however i was never able to contribute as I never had a card of my own. Additionally i saw that many people were reluctant of making online card payments as their was always a slight suspicion whenever it came to handling money in the cyber world. To top this I saw that many people did actually want to contribute but didn't always have the money to do so To come up with a solution I brainstormed the idea of "Health Aid" that would allow people who will otherwise spend hours on social media to actually help someone with their combined time.

We will then be able to expand our team to work on the development,financial,marketing and operational aspects of the startup.

Boehringer Ingelheim can invest in our idea and help it become a succesful startup and in the process help millions in need of healthcare around the world. If they invest in us it will be like a snowball effect and they will be making waves in the health and crowdfunding industry. We envision that we will be able to give Boehringer Ingelheim a fair share of the startup profits to them in return for their investment.

In addition Boehringer Ingelheim can also be our angel investors in return for stakes in the company for a certain period of time.
