I provide healthy wholesome,low in fat and calorie food for vegetarians and non vegetarians alike. Vegetarian tourists and individuals have issues eating at restaurants because of the lack of vegan menu. Hence to solve this problem,I deem it necessary to establish a vegan fast food eatery worldwide.

What if all types of cancer and cardiovascular diseases could be reduced by 50% through the consumption of healthy nutritious and yet tasty fast food menus and recipes sold throughout the world?
About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

The high rate of cancer and cardiovascular diseases can be checked largely by what we eat. At the outset of the fast food business globally,scientists discovered an increase in cancer,obesity and cardiovascular diseases. This generally means that high calorie and greasy meals are linked to the rampant widespread of such diseases. Furthermore, scientists in Germany have linked a huge part of climate change in the world to livestock/animal killing.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

The solution to the problem is that my fast food brand is aiming to correct the anomaly existing in the fast food and hospitality industry. Taking the maxim "we are what we eat" as a working tool, it is imperative that the public are not only enticed by sweet tasty foods, but healthy nutritious meals as well. My company's plan/idea is channeled towards creating a paradigm shift in the fast food industry from high calorie fatty foods to low calorie and low cholesterol foods that are appealing to the teeming consuming public at a much affordable cost. This plan is geared towards reducing cardiovascular diseases by at least 50%, while at the same time discouraging the slaughtering of livestock for food, to decrease climate change worldwide.

Impact: How does it Work

At my organization, there would be an intentional approach to create a positive social impact around the communities where we are situated. Primarily, I would align my business with best practices in my industry. Best practices would eliminate workers agitations and customers apathy towards my products and services, hence encouraging repeat purchases. Furthermore, we would check the health improvement of our customers who constantly patronize our meals through the use of questionnaires and periodic marketing surveys, to ascertain the level of positive impact we'd have made in the community. Finally, we would make a report of our findings in our published periodicals and websites,so that prospects can visit us and relish our healthy meals.

Veggie~licious fast food eatery would be unique unlike any other, both locally and internationally. Due to the fact that rural communities in Africa are under-resourced and under-skilled in ICT, I would make it a priority to build a state-of-the-art ICT center/cybercafé within my fast food business premises. Secondly, my company would develop a unique business model that reduces overhead by utilizing mobile vending units as a ready alternative to dining, in larger business-centric cities. Veggie~licious locations will range in size from 60-80 square meters and will seat about 40-50 guests at a time. The space selection will be chosen based on the following criteria: Community size: minimum of 200,000 people within a radius of 10km, Tourist destinations, easy access to young people (e.g schools),proximity to health facilities,etc.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

My company at it's full potential would be profitable and resourceful for both customers and stakeholders alike. Primarily, it would be difficult to defend the concept of meal products because it can't be patented. But I intend to address this by building strong brand awareness and establishing copyright on total quality systems. Additionally, my products may be vulnerable to weaken over time, which can be minimised through product innovation and diversification. Vulnerability to imitation products from competitors will be reduced through rapid development of my fast food products and brands.
Sustainability

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

First, I would forge a new,vibrant and high quality brand in the fast food industry, which would challenge the established market, by offering a fresh, tasty but healthy alternative in contrast to the existing fast food restaurants. Secondly, my company would build a robust business model founded on high yield but low capital outlay products. Finally, the possibility of an IPO/acquisition exists in the long term financial plan of my company.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

The unique thing about my business is that there are no competitors currently in the marketplace. Majority of the fast food restaurants globally are mostly concerned about the tastefulness of their meals. But my fast food business is geared towards improving the healthcare of my customers while at the same time providing them with tasty meals just like the traditional fast food eateries/restaurants.

Founding Story

I recall vividly having a discussion with some friends back in 2008 in my university campus in Nigeria. While we were discussing, I prodded them to follow me to a fast food restaurant. But unfortunately, or should I say fortunately for me, some of them turned the offer down based on the fact that they were vegetarians. And right there on the spot came my eureka moment. The idea sprung up in my mind to establish a vegetarian fast food restaurant similiar to the usual fast food eateries in town, to help ease the burden and hospitality needs of vegetarians in my community, nation and the entire world. Also,to enable me provide a healthy alternative to customers who patronize fast food eateries.

As my company increases it's capacity and enters the growth stage of 'the product lifecycle', I would employ professional culinary experts that would help me revolutionize the fast food industry with healthy but mouth-watering recipes. Additionally, I would employ nutritionists and dieticians on a part-time basis. They would help train my chefs on exquisite cuisines and delicacies for chronic disease patients like cancer and obese patients, which would enable my company improve it's public appeal.

A win-win partnership can ensue between Boehringer and my company Veggie~licious. I envision great results when both companies work together. Considering the fact that my company is largely bent on preventing most chronic diseases through the consumption of healthy nutritious products, I foresee a sustainable partnership with Boehringer in the aspect of research and development for my products, to aid in providing sustainable healthcare for consumers. On the flip side, when my company attains a high level of branding, Boehringer company would gain a lot of publicity at no extra cost through our published peroidicals and websites. My co-creation needs with Boehringer Ingelheim would be fantastic for global health. B.I has some expertise with "specific diseases" according to the chart above. This would offer my company a great opportunity to leverage on their expertise,in order to create a suitable recipé/menu for customers. Additionally,patients with chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes and divers range of cardiovascular diseases would benefit from such menus at my company. This would bring a global recognition to my company as a health-centric fast food. But "Access to capital" is my greatest need from B.I company.
