About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

The negligence of the oral health among young and old here in rural areas of Jordan is alarming, the very few are concerned about their teeth and oral health in general, they only visit the dentist when the problem is untreatable or needs a lot of money to restore, so they usually choose to extract the tooth, children's oral health is also really disappointing, unfortunately the governmental laws don't protect them.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Our idea comes in an attempt to solve the problem by providing a mobile and a reachable dental settings to diagnose and treat oral and dental problems in an affordable prices, we want to encourage those families to look after their oral health and most importantly after their children's. It will also include campaigns to promote oral health awareness and the diagnosis of oral cancer in its initial stages, which is really of a poor prognosis in its late stages, thus problems can be addressed and treated before it's too late. The bus will be fully equipped and a team of trained dentists will circle those areas along the year to provide diagnosis and treatment. Also the team will collect an extremely important data for research purposes.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

Although the project will be for the public health promotion in part, but will be for profit in another part, the services will be provided for a low cost but a profit margin will keep the project running, this mainly will keep the team on the ground. The generous grants from the government and some international organisations will give the project more power to reach more people. The startup cost of the project is estimated to be around $100K.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

The team is composed of highly trained dentists who are graduated from the University of Jordan, One of the dentists had an extensive business training at Kelley school of business at the University of Indiana.
