WHAT IF - Inspiration: Write one sentence that describes a way that your project dares to ask, "WHAT IF?"

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Most Weavers in Bhutan have no route to market their handmade products, and the international market is almost closed off to them. Illiteracy means they cannot use the internet to obtain information, nor gain access to a foreign market. Illiteracy also means they cannot speak directly to a tourist to sell their products. Illiteracy means a life in a box of limited or no opportunity for these Bhutanese weavers

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Starting with scarfs, weavers make colourful happy weavings and sold through Ana by Karma, thus enabling them to directly gain direct access to an international client base.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

in 18 months, aprox 34 year of income to the community of weavers, when before they had zero or little income 300+ children were taught financial literacy

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

in 18 months, aprox 34 year of income to the community of weavers, when before they had zero or little income 300+ children were taught financial literacy

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

Vision - Improve the lives of illiterate women & their families - one scarf at a time. Unleash their full potential.

Founding Story

A Born Global Social Enterprise comes to life. (Born Global means all products made are sold outside of local market from Day 1) An illiterate young Bhutanese woman by the name of Karma had the artisan skills, no access to market & she has growing children to fund education.
