This a health systems innovation. The project brings out the global framework for health related food taxes in the process of analysing the impact of yoga in reducing food consumption, reducing healthcare expenditure, developing human capabilities and in improving the performance in education.

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Overeating causes obesity, diabetes and deterioration in human capital. Diet risk is the top health risk in the world. There is general difficulty in reducing an individuals food consumption.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Intense practitioners of yoga eat only once a day while moderate practitioners eat twice a day. Yoga achieves reduction in food consumption by prescription, reducing stress and by educating about temptation. The Global framework for raising health finance is conceptualized based on the best practices for food consumption.

There are two rule of thumb (prescription) that are followed in case of yoga practitioners that is People of encouraged to eat food upto half stomach and drink water for quarter stomach. Then the fourth quarter is left empty for air. or Intense practitioners of yoga eat only once a day while moderate practitioners eat twice a day. Practice of yoga reduces stress and therefore there is no excessive consumption on account of stress. Practice of yoga also develops consciousness and the practitioner starts differentiating between consumption out of desire for consumption experience or temptation. The consumption experiences are sensations, chewing experience, full stomach bliss etc

Social Impact Global Health - Chronic diseases Yoga practice is useful in prevention of diseases including Ischemic heart disease, COPD, asthma, lower back pain, depression, multiple sclerosis and diabetes type 2. Human Development & Education The practice of yoga leads to development of capabilities and they are Capability of Self-control over food consumption, and Capability of health, immunity and better cognition Evidence indicate that there is potential for improvement in educational performance with reduction in examination anxiety & aggression, helplessness in school, physical complaints, improvement in concentration, mood, field independence, work habits, cooperation, restful alertness, emotional intelligence, static balance ability and improvement in management of stress including rumination, intrusive thoughts, and emotional arousal.

American food consumption (Group behavior) Environmental Impact Percentage of Yoga practitioners in America has shot up to 8.7% of the total adult population by 2012. With nearly half of the practitioners practicing for more than 3 years, the savings in food consumption could be well over 1% of national food consumption together with phenomenal development in human capital. This percentage of 8.7% in USA was achieved due to decades of hard work of yoga teachers

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

Yoga improves educational experience and the work can grow by embedding it in Global education curriculum. Similarly the best practice can ensure sustainability by embedding it in public health and in work environment.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

The project is different is bringing out the Global framework for food taxes for development. This year Indian government & State of California have levied health related food tax on aerated waters (soft drinks like Pepsi), and I believe that Indian researchers are working to bring tax on Palm oil. Even after taxing food products there is still discussion on food supplied in large quantities and promotions to children in the form of gifts and toys. I have simplified them all into Fat and tickle tax.

Founding Story

I started working full time on this project when food ethics council in the UK called my idea as an "out of box thinking".
