About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

The suggested system unlike systems working by traditional energy systems (gas, electricity) as main source of energy uses solar energy and electricity will be used only in case of unexpected weather changes or emergency situations. This system will bring to product cost reduction and competitiveness.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

The suggested product is a sustainable and ecologically safe fruit and vegetable dryer working by the help of solar heating system. Beneficiaries are all interested gardeners.This is considered to be technological equipment and on the ground of the equipment work is transfer of solar energy to the shelf-dryer through hydraulic liner. Conditioned by the technology of fruit drying the system is supplemented with micro-regulator. This gives opportunity to choose appropriate technological parameters considering the types of fruits or vegetables. The system completely meets the requirements of sanitary norms regarding dust, insects and other parameters. The system consists of a hub of solar batteries, shelf battery and automated control hub.

Those using this dryer will save about 60.000 AMD (about 88 GBP) using one dryer during one month. This is due to using solar energy instead of traditional energy sources. Saved money can be used by the farmers to get additional fruits/vegetables that will bring to demand formation towards this product in the market. About 1500 kilo carbon dioxide will not be emitted in the air /during 4 months/ counted for one dryer.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

This system is intended for use by farmers. This will solve some issues at the same time. First that farmers will have the opportunity to establish their small business, i.e. social problem for farmers, second import point is that the system is environmentally friendly and climate change impacts are addressed.

1. Farmers will have possibility to obtain fruit dryers working via low carbon technology, 2. Farmers will save additional money due to electricity saving, 3. They will have additional financial resources 4. New workplaces will be opened 5. Guaranteed outcome will be a promotion for further development of this technology 6. Additional components that are exported with low cost, people using the dryer will have opportunity to use the collectors in future that will allow them to have hot water.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

Sustainability of the project is conditioned by the circumstance that produced dried fruit or vegetable are very cost-effective, i.e. product is competitive in the market and money saved due to solar energy will be an additional investment for farmers.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

This system is a new one for Armenian market. As a new and cost effective system, we consider that fruit dryers will have demand in the market also taking into account their cost-efficiency. At first there is necessity to make a good promotion for our product among farmers, Government and interested local and international organizations. We are confident that it will help farmers to produce high quality dried fruits and the Government and organizations will be interested as the fruit dryers are ecologically clean and have do not pollute environment.

It has been about 10 years that the company is engaged in designing and constructing different technological equipment working via renewable energy. We have experience in different designs.
