Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.
Reliable statistics report that 10 –12% of the general population worldwide are people with disabilities. This percentage reaches up to 25-40% if we count in all groups of mobility restricted people like: older population, temporarily injured individuals, mothers with baby carriers, pregnant women, children etc. In Greece more than 1.000.000 people with disabilities have major accessibility restrictions when trying to enter everyday life. This marginalization is mainly caused by social accessibility barriers like negative or erroneous attitudes towards people with a disability, as well as stereotypes and misconceptions that are hindering them to take part in life. With simple steps we can change that.
Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.
So far we have created training material and made several actions with our partner Perpato to train individuals and change attitudes towards disability. With the propper support we could further develop and spread our training all over Greece.
Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?
Our working method is based around adding value to existing organizations, businesses and projects by advising and assisting in the design and implementation of projects aiming to promote the inclusion of people with a disability.
IncludAbility delivers disability related services, tailor made to the specific needs and demands of our clients. In doing so efficiently, our team follows the following steps:1.Needs assessment
In the first phase, we try to assess the needs of our clients in the focus areas and identify their strong and weak points in their effort to include people
Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?
IncludAbility will make profit through charging fees for the services provided to its clients. Another source of profit will be corporations between IncludAbility and business partners like job agents, business consultants, etc. In addition, IncludAbility will take advantage of the legislation concerning social companies aiming to help people with a disability and will get funding from social programs, EU funding programs (ESPA), and CSR program
Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?
So far there is no concise approach in awarenes and inclusion training in Greece. Most organisations do not focus on training and do not produce a sustainable aproach on issues of inclusion. Additionally they mainly focus on the persons with a disability, Whereas IncludAbility reaches out to the general public.
