Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

The intent of the paper is to highlight the importance of ITK in agriculture and its role in adaptation to Climate Change. It discusses the effectiveness of traditional farming in mountain, hilly and terai region to combat Climate Change while Nepal is experiencing the change which is affecting agricultural system.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

• To explore, understand and identify the effects of Climate Change and ITK used in agricultural practices to combat Climate Change effects in the three climatic zones of Nepal. • To document identified issues, knowledge, skills and ways to sustain ITK within the community. • To promote ITK as solution to Climate Change on agricultural practices through mainstreaming media.

It is important to document this knowledge, how people are utilizing their knowledge and skills to adapt the changes and how successfully they are doing it. It is also important to highlight these measures to spread to wider population and also to highlight these activities so that more actions and importance of community knowledge in adaption and conservation are given in developing further action plans. A clear understanding of ITK would thus contribute in strategic planning of agricultural sector in the particular area and also other part of country.These researches is to documents community knowledge from three geographical location of Nepal through different participatory research tools and observation and highlight those through different methods- report, promotion through social media and visual documentation.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

• The knowledge identified was documented and will be published as reference book and a documentary which contains the indigenous knowledge in agriculture of the three communities. • Networking among NGO'S, CBO's, VDC's of different places for sustainability of Knowledge and for further research and dissemination of skills.

Founding Story

Where ever science talks about climate change first thing that come to my mind is community and need to document through research. InPowershift campaign,disseminating message against climate change and share importance of adaption and plight of citizen I went to document “Community based Adaptation on Water Crisis” at Bhaktapur, golmadi. Urgency and dream of contributing for environmental protection and conservation, further aiming to explore, `discuss, document, and promote the Indigenous Traditionalknowledge (ITK) as Community Based Adaptation techniques that has been practiced by different indigenous community in Nepal in agriculture against Climate Change.
