Project Summary
Elevator Pitch

Concise Summary: Help us pitch this solution! Provide an explanation within 3-4 short sentences.

We at MNML Apparel Inc. want to donate $1,000,000 per year to charities and organizations that will help eliminate discrimination and bullying. We aim to achieve this goal by donating a portion of our proceeds from each unit sold. We create lines of designer clothing based around the charity or organization we are partnered with and sell through our online store and retailers.

Our products have minimalistic designs based on our partnership charities/organizations so that they can be worn at any time, and aren't only used for a certain day of support. The products are also made in North America, and are Fair Trade and NAFTA goods.

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

There are many groups that are discriminated against all over the world, and need our help. We have partnerships with anti-bullying organizations to help high raise awareness for high-school bullying and to help put an end to it. We have partnerships with organizations that help LGBT communities all over Canada and help to push for equal rights. With the help of more funding and exposure, our company could create massive awareness for these issues and provide funds to help solve them.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Our solution to discrimination is to drastically increase awareness, and put into place programs to eliminate discrimination in many areas, including discrimination for genders, sexual orientation, and race. There are organizations that attempt to do this right now but most are drastically underfunded. We aim to provide products to people that they will love, that will also increase awareness for these issues because they will be worn year-round and not just on a special day of awareness like most clothing of this kind. With the designs supporting awareness, and the proceeds going to organizations that aid the causes, these lines of clothing are the perfect tool to support groups that have traditionally been discriminated against. We plan to get these products into the hands of people by sales on our online store, and in retailers across North America. A portion of proceeds will then be given to the partnered charities/organizations.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

Let's say we partner with an LGBT equal rights organization. When people buy our clothing, they will be feeling good that they are supporting a cause. They will also be creating awareness to all those who see them wearing the clothing. The proceeds that go to the organization will also go towards helping spread awareness and educating people on why equal rights are important. With all this increased awareness and all these people having exposure to this outlook, the next time there is a governmental decision to be made on the subject there will be a vast increase in support for this cause. The result may be legislation passed that give more equal rights to same-sex couples, for example. This is just one way that our company will help communities.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

Our peers are other companies that aim to give back to the community through proceeds and awareness. Currently there are not many. TOMS shoes is an example of this, but for a different cause. Lush is another company that donates to certain organizations and charities through their proceeds. Both are highly successful and highly supported by the community. Our competitors would be other clothing companies that offer high quality products that are appealing to buyers. What sets us apart is our mission to give back to the community. This sets us apart from our competitors and gives us an edge. This will be useful to us because as we do better as a company, we are able to do better for the community.
