About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

To hide and beautify empty brown spaces along roadsides, adjacent to light industrial areas, roundabouts, unused private land, land destroyed by earth moving equipment.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Groups of community volunteers working together to make their towns and countryside a better place to live in. Specifically. Find a location to re vegetate. Under the guidance of a landscape gardener and with the approval of any appropriate authority, plant carefully selected low maintenance vegetation .
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

We already have community support via a funded survey of the local population. We have the tacit approval of our local authority but we need funding for the "tools of the trade". Wheelbarrows, spades, rakes, car trailers, hats, sunscreens, first aid kits, small marquees etc

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

As above. To the locality a better place in which to live.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

With the required tools as listed above provided for each of the community groups, there would be no further financial requirement.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

These activities are not being carried out by any business, local or state authority. Therefore it is being left to the community

Founding Story

The Mossman Botanic Garden is about to commence with the purchase of a 50 acre block of land costing $1.2 million. This is close to the centre of Mossman. Funding has been provided by the Australian federal government. The botanic garden will take up to 3 years to develop and the Douglas Shire community have overwhelmingly accepted the garden concept and that is is for community use.

We invite any and all communities around the world to develop a pride in their locality wherever it may be. This project, indeed any project similar to this is not difficult and should attract the support of your local authorities and businesses. Once you have attracted your community to this idea, it will snowball as it has in our community.
