Sustainability

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

This organization will have to depend on funding from different companies in the first three years, with an aim of developing projects within the facility that will be able to generate income on its own. Such projects are to be those that will be from the students that have been in the education programs and scholarships offered by the center.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There is currently no mobile science and maths laboratories in Lesotho. We are hoping to partner with the department of science and technology in building a science center that will add on to some of the few exhibits they have.

Founding Story

One day at a science center in Johannesburg, a student walks up to me from her group that was visiting a science center from one of the rural areas in Lesotho, aged 8, and asked me, " why are there so many funerals in the city?" Then with shock ask why, then she say, it's because the are making a line going to funerals. It then dawned on me that, it was her first time in a city like Johannesburg, and the only time she saw traffic is when cars are going to a funeral in her village. This was the deciding moment for that I need to do something about the exposure, interest in science, maths and technology and reading in the rural areas.
