Hargol FoodTech develops innovative protocols and technologies to enable growing commercial quantities of grasshoppers in climate controlled facilities. Our protocols and technologies reduce production costs by over 30% as compared to cricket farming. And when we consider greenhouse gas emissions, water consumption, arable land usage and efficiency of feed conversion, our impact on the environment is 20 times lower than existing animal source protein.

Founding Story

While working on a project dealing with prevention of obesity epidemic in the western world we learned of malnutrition in other places around the globe and started working on a solution

Team

To deliver our vision we assembled a team of experts including: Dror Tamir, founder and CEO of Hargol FoodTech (also known as Steak TzarTzar). A serial entrepreneur. An insects’ magician - Chanan Aviv who has been growing and eating insects for over 30 years; An operations wizard - Ben Friedman who specializes in food ingredient processing efficiency; And we are advised by Dr. Yael Heifetz of the Hebrew University Entomology Department.
