Project Summary
Elevator Pitch

Concise Summary: Help us pitch this solution! Provide an explanation within 3-4 short sentences.

what if believing is seeing rather than the other way round? What if one of the most illiterate countries that happens to be a nuclear power as well and hub of terrorism will be known for young social entrepreneurs if and if only one can take the Risk of trusting them-the young people of Pakistan .

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Pakistan- this terrorism torn- world's sixth most populous country with the largest cohort of young people is characterized by patriarchy & poverty (both income & opportunities).

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

The best social investment is to equip young women and men especially those from disadvantaged communities with empathy & entrepreneurship through training, coaching & mentoring on art and science of social entrepreneurship. Heart & Head together!
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

In 2011 I started writing stories of those Pakistanis who inspired me as social entrepreneurs. In 2012 I got a funding source (FNF) to publish my book ( a short cute little booklet). In 2013 it got published. In the same year I won a small grant through another competitive process to share my ideas with young people of Pakistan. I created a project that aimed to conduct a series of 3 free workshops for 150-160 young people. My first workshop was on 5 Dec'13 and two more to go. It went extremely well. I will write more about it once the series is completed before 20 dec'13.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

the ripples created so far may be quantified as follows: Received 1000 applications till 5 dec'13 (starting from Nov 17,2013) from students ( social sciences, engineering, medicine & business),social workers & NGO professionals RESIDING in Islamabad but belong to different areas/provinces of Pakistan. Some applications were received from the interested ones outside Islamabad. The statement of purpose from the applicants and the feedback received through evaluation proformas and social media are endorsing the idea. I am seeing an emerging 'community of social entrepreneurs" who is ready to address their issues through indigenous solutions.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

sustainability should not be limited to the fiscal dimension only. This project requires budget and human resource. I am confident that I would develop a team of trainers who can train other young people. A subsidized workshop series are also in the future plan. A network of young people already in place (DoSTI YAN) is accommodating those who have attended my workshops. This would ensure technical & institutional sustainability of the project.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There are fancy and expensive business schools who are more concentrated on business ventures and theories. There are setups that are offering solutions that are based on models that are working in US,UK & DEVELOPED PARTS OF THE WORLD BUT ARE alien to Pakistan. Corporate trainers offer Expensive (non affordable) training & mentoring packages that excludes young people from disadvantaged communities and backgrounds. This project is organic and has a multiplier effect. My book and workshops are free of fiscal cost. I am getting investors and my gain is revival of hope among depressed youth.

Founding Story

Kings Pronate Beggars Supinate! (self talk why do I see supination around me) As the head of an NGO & CEO of a Social enterprise I realized at one point that I cannot 'tolerate" more personal requests and e-applications from young people who either garnish these with a sob stories or pitch with fancy power point presentations. So I check myself dared to write down my own story, share the stories of those who already made an impact and presented my ideas with these prototypes in a conversational mode before writing within a technical framework before the potential investors. PS: I think that was more of a ah rather than aha moment when I actually thought about it. My aha moment was then WHEN the idea of writing a book was "sold":)
