About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Generally human being is rationnal and that's why doing something for "free" is never a good option. Changing the behaviour of an human beeing is something that is the hardest. How can we encourage people to adopt a sustainable behavior or doing something for a community instead only for their proper interest? This problem can also be applied to companies ... Changing way of thinking and behaviour is the hardest thing from our point of view.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

We have to use human "weakness" to persuade them to act. How? Using 3 pillars : - The way to communicate about a common good action to the others using a dedicated plateform. - The way to propose many actions/way of doing something from the littlest to the biggest involvment. And that, all around the user and under a very simple statement. - Use the "passion" and the energy created by the competition feeling and use it for the common good. WeeAkt introduces the first positive real competitions between all cities. Each member of a city "Akts" and points earned are given to the city. We think we have the change things locally and changes will come from local people/organization. Humans like games and challenges. 3 pillars for change.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

As an exemple, our first partner is an craftsman specialized in repairing jeans. Using our plateform, users now know that it's possible to repear instead throw out. The social impact is that we help a selfmade craftsman to find clients, and we encourage the circulary economy. Clients win points and are valorised for their "Akt". Clients will communicate their actions to inspirate their own social network. This exemple is one among thousands of applications, associations can propose voluntary works, ask people to come to an event, a biological farmer can propose its vegetables. Consummers can now know that it is possible to act and they are thanks for that. WeaAkt encourage to collaborate, to consume locally and to be sustainable.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

At this date we have partners who find new prospects and can develop their activities. We are in discussion with associations to make them communicate on the plateform and propose voluntary "missions". As an another exemple, we permit to a association which employ "return to work" people for crafting fashion clothes using recycled socks string to find new clients and to communicate about the merit of the activity to encoureage people to "Akt" and buy there. We also make advertising for a "solidarity and social economy" company which employ handicapped people wich craft boxes to make growing muschrooms using "recuperated" coffee trash as ground. People can buy it and eat their proper mushrooms. The impacts are : collaboration between individuals, positive consumption, sustainable behavior, local economy development. Finally re-center the economy around humans and the earth respect.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

Our goal is to create a scalable experience thanks to our open platform which permit any kind of actor to participate at its level. One of our strategy is to play on the geographical competition between cities and countries in a close futur. We have really designed the plateform to be a viral one playing with the membership feeling and the "positive competition". Concerning policy reforms, we also want to come with the collaborative economy and bring it new prospects. In 5 years we want to be the open plateform dedicated and aggregating positives actions/propositions for eveverybody/actors.

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

Our plan is simple, we charge every "actor" which is not a citizen with a adapted pricing. A individual craftman will be nearly free, a 20 members association will be charged a few, a company communicating on it's social and sustainables aspects will pay as a municipality who would want to communicate positively directly to its citizens. As "Facebook" the plateform is open and any actor can take advandtage of it and for some there is a charge.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

There is many social networks dedicated to sustainable development, others to associations and others to local economy support. But there is no concerning the common point between all of them : the positive impact. We adopt a differenciated positionning by a simplified approach to me more accessible. An "Akt "is a positive action, it's a short format composed of 140 characters plus one or two pictures. Other plateforms do not propose a real mobile experience and do not offer a very large range of proposed actions. Our plateform permit to "Akt" very small every day individual action to bigger.

Founding Story

Vincent Leyrit had the idea to use competition between geographicals entities for the common good when he was in China drinking lot of beer. Since he had this idea he had always knew that he would create something with it. He worked in different companies as engineer and registered to after-work business master at university to be able to lead its project. Then he realized many prototypes and iterated about how to best materialize the idea. He has failed a lot but he never gave up. Then he meet Fabien Durieux its co-founders and together they also iterate a lot to finally achieve to the current form of WeeAkt. Then they has spent one year to develop the plateform. Now WeeAkt is online and begin to have traction. It's time to make it grow.

Vincent Leyrit is the "ceo", he deals with creating parterships with associations, social businesses and with presenting the project. Fabien Durieux is the "cto" it deals with the plateform. Fabien also like to take in charge the communication aspect on social networks. The rôles are well defined even they are both engineers and they have both developped the plateform.
