What makes your idea unique?

To achieve true compliance and maintain fortification standards as per legislation there needs to be continous sampling and testing of varied products across the country. SABS alone cannot effectively meet this mandate. However, if students and at technikons and univerities are provided with requisite testing kits, they can incorporate this function into their academic routine and be a source of continous stream of vital data that will impact market and industrial behaviour.

The first step will be towards engaging manufactering of rapid performance test kits to contribute towards a pilot test at a selected institution. Students at the selected institution will then be trained on undertaking the routing test and posting results.

These actions will lead to a full blown pilot project which will then form the basis of scaling up to include additional testing sites.

What will it take for your project to be successful over the next three years? Please address each year separately, if possible.

In year, gaining access to adequate number of test kits will be critical. The target will be to establish a pilot test site in each province. Year 2 will look at exponentially increasing the number of test sites. In year 3 we'll take audit of the performance and impact of the program and explore areas of improvement.
