what if today's underprivileged women of MENA countries are tomorrow's law makers in their nations'?

About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Even with a female literacy rate of more than 81% less than 5% of the females come up in the category of the 'working women'. Having no support and law by the Govt. to protect them from attack by anyone, the women are helpless and bound to live life in a coffin-let alone human equality. The need is to formulate the root cause of the situation with an innovation which could revolutionize the system and empower the women towards economic equality.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

The solution addresses the core of the problem to advance the economic opportunities for women in MENA, strengthen their families and communities, and enable them to benefit equitably from economic growth. Looking at the nature of living in the some of the MENA countries like Iran,Iraq,Egypt,Tunisia,Saudi Arabia,Libya it is clear that being a woman equal to absence of political stand or rights. The trend is in these countries the society's rules are effectively run by religious leaders. We target to engage these leaders and the middle and upper middle class society in promoting women engagement in SMEs and by-women-for-women apparel brands. A BWFW engagement contributing to their family's establishment and ultimately countries development.

The primary activities would involve establishment of SMEs and manufacturing units for candle, textile, craft-works and food packaging. The motive is to immerse the pros of the plan into the minds of the social lawmakers, political leaders and ultimately the middle class citizens who have been the sufferers all this time. The idea includes plans to advertise the participating agencies globally keeping the identity of the employed female labors intact and unseen at the same time more than 90% of the profits to the employees- thereby empowering them in their own business

The impact of the implementation will be immense and directly to the up-liftment of not only the underprivileged women in the society but the society as a whole and thereby adding up to the economy of the country as well. The growth of SME culture in the society will help boost the confidence of life amongst the looked down sexes. Moreover the middle class families who were not able to pursue a sustained life due to lack of economic stability and fear of social laws would be able to enjoy a much better life style. The women led enterprises could run a for-woman-by-woman schools which could educate and coach the females of the society. While the poor sections of the society can run these organizations and make some money for life, the stronger sections of woman society would run charitable funds to support the SMEs, for the cause of charity and business interests.

Sustainability

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

The business will be requiring an initial investment of minimum 60% of estimates cost per campaigned location. The time to recovery is calculated to be 18-36months depending upon the location of campaigns. Further which the profits will be evolving and the graph goes similar to square curve. The business not only targets the earnings out of the investments bu to reach the prime target of women empowerment for economic equality.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

Similar situations are evolving in the not so strong economies across the globe specially southern Asia and lower middle east regions. However, the proposed idea is highly propelling as it targets not only the core reason from where the discriminating rules are evolving but also involves all sections of society by offering each of them their suitable fruits of interest.No doubt the market is immense and would evolve like rapid fire.About the profits, though most of the income from the started scope of businesses would be invested again during initial yrs bu the long term benefit is immense.

The "Aha!" moment is somewhat funny as it started while I was reading about the MENA countries on wikipedia and just then one of my college friends who is a resident of Kuwait came into my room. Following which we had a long discussion on life of people in the Arabian countries and specially the customs women follow over there. We had spend almost 7 hours that day talking, watching youtube documentaries and reading blogs on the subject of interest. And few months later I got to see this competition where I could put forward our ideas before the world.
