About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

More than 10K ex-convicts(growing) in the Philippines, its very hard for them to look for a job because they lack the skills and nobody would accept them because they are ex-convicts. Due to the fact they can not find an honorable job they will generally act in their self-interest and make decisions to commit crime again after weighing the potential risks (including getting caught) . Thus, this ex-convict will return to jail again and again.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

Project Chance will give chance to people who made mistakes in their past. This project will give them a decent source of living that is not brought by the stigma of their delinquent pass. This will be a multi-faceted employment program that include job-readiness program, counselling, document acquisition, financial assistance, food, housing,longer term support and instant employment. Thus this project focus is on helping ex-con get the support they need to stay out of prison and establish productive, crime-free lives in the community to which they've rightfully returned. Ex-con will learn different kind of skill, related in their likes. They will be train to enhance their skill in their chosen fields.

Story 1: (without this project) In the movie "jim is a ex con, when he return in the outside world, he is looking for a job, his employer told him to secure documents and the like. After several days his employer found out that he has done something bad in the past, because jim is excon, no one is willing to accept him and because he can not find a honorable job. He joined syndicate selling drugs, selling firearms, etc, spreading malice to the world. Story 2. (with this project) Jim will join the outside world, without worrying to find a work, this project help jim in order to live better. This project will assist him on securing doc, giving him a job, training, spiritual support and the like. Jim will no longer turn into crimes.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

This is a pragmatic choice to make life simpler and profitable for previous detainees by making job open doors accessible and available with the goal that they may appreciate their picked up opportunity and life after imprisonment significant. This project will prevent former inmates from returning to cell again. It is expected that in the next 2 years, the number of returning inmates in jail will decrease by half. It is also expected that the number of crimes will decrease by more than 40%. Almost 80 percent of inmates came from a poor family, thus it is also expected that when this project runs, the number of poor will lessen.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

It will be Great to see talented people re-investing their time, skills, compassion and commitment to people who need it. Investments in our fellow citizens, empowering them to make better choices, will result in a stronger community, and when genuine, rarely disappoints. To achieve desired impact, it should be collaborated with the government and other NGO's. Within 5 years, number of returning inmate will decrease and number of crimes will also decrease. Sustainability

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

Project chance will rely on Pay Per Work basis. The price of the services will vary depending on the cost of work. To maintain operation of the organization a 25% per gross is charge and the 75% will be divided by the number of worker who completed the task. The 25% will be use for infrastructure, for individual development fund and trainings. Project Chance will offer a wide variety of services ranging from A-Z depending on the client needs.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

Project Chance will offer services depending on the client needs. Traditional business focus in a single area. Thus, Project chance proposed a diversified type of business to cater all the possible talent they have. If a client need a specific task, we send employee who is capable of doing a job. Thus, with a collection of ex-convict with different talent ranging from different fields. Because project chance will be offering a larger scale of services targeting a larger population of customer. This is very much different because we are catering all services at one stop.

Founding Story

It was April 2013, when I was looking for job. In the Philippines, its very hard to look for a job even if you finished college.You need to pass a bunch of paper including NBI clearance, police clearance, brgy. clearance, medical and etc. It was October when I met this guy Eman, he is a ex-con and looking for job just like me. We do some chit-chat . Well I can say that his situation is hard. I ask myself. Who will hire this guy? If I am an employer should I choose this guy or look for another, where in fact the supply of applicants are huge. So the chance of being employed is slim. He told me if you steal/shoot guns/ become hired killer you don't need to pass requirement. No interview. No employer. Easy money. Thats why "project chance"

Team

The Team will consist of 3 divisions General Oversight, Internal and External Division. General oversight will be responsible for the overall of the organization. Internal division will deal with people inside the organization. External Division will deal with people outside the organization. Internal Division will compose the line of business. External Division will be responsible for Recon, Fundraising and Operations, and a special support.

Audience: Who have you identified as your customer/recipient groups and do these groups value your solution for different reasons? How do you engage different customer/recipient groups to deliver your solution?

I am aiming for multiple birds with one stone. Helping ex-convinct to get a job and helping our customers, and helping the community. I think every one wants a peaceful life, I believe this is the best solution to lessen the number of crimes.
Crimes happen in less than 15 seconds, just imagine if they can kill you/or your family or your friend, or your neighborhood and criminal never choose their victims.
Violence against violence is equal to total destruction. So, we really need to help them.

Scaling the solution: How would the prize money and publicity help you to achieve your objectives over the next two years?

The prize money will be use in training materials such as modules and learning material to equip them with right skill needed to perform the jobs related to the business. The publicity will able to reach potential client for the organization to grow and serve other people on their needs.

I have a very bad past. I forgive myself already. And I want the forgiveness of others. and then a sudden rumurs change my life. an incident that change my whole life. My hard work for 21 years was gone. No body will hire me because of those rumors. Everybody judge me. its very hard for me to find an employment because of that issue. I was judged by others without proof. So, I decided to put up a biz and hire people makes mistakes in their past.
