Project Summary
Elevator Pitch

Concise Summary: Help us pitch this solution! Provide an explanation within 3-4 short sentences.

To create a system to enable farmers to convert their farms from fossil fuels energy to solar energy.
To help farmers do their part in cleaning the environment.
To help people get awareness of the benefits of Solar energy as its the future.

WHAT IF - Inspiration: Write one sentence that describes a way that your project dares to ask, "WHAT IF?"

The poultry product you use is toxic from the emissions of fossil fuels?
About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

Energy crisis is one of the main problem faced by the farmers in the country causing them to use fossil fuel energy to meet their energy requirements. This leads to the emissions by the burning of the fossil fuels endangering the society, the workers on the farms, the flock or animals at the farm and above all it is harmful to the environment leading to global warming and the decreasing of fossil fuels.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

The idea is to convert the poultry and dairy farms to Solar energy. To design an energy management system that will help farmers to convert their farms to solar energy that will Resolves energy efficiency problems, Estimates environmental impact of greenhouse gases, Prioritizes new energy-saving technology and Provides best practices for energy efficiency. This will help the farmers on individual level and farmers collectively help make the environment cleaner by no emissions from fossil fuels. This will help in restoring the ozone and help us against the global warming of the planet.
Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

Imagine walking into a Eco tech farm that solely runs on Solar energy. The lights, the pumps, the motors, the security system, the machines everything is run by solar emery. There wont be any use of fossil fuels making it clean and technologically advance farm and hence a better environment. The product of the farm will be toxic free of the fossil fuels emissions and wastes. Pure and healthy eggs or milk etc. All because there is no use of fossil fuels but of Solar energy.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

The idea mainly focuses on cleaning of the environment and against the global warming caused by the emissions of the fossil fuels. It has the added benefits of the financial feasibility of the farmers. The awareness of the Solar energy systems to the people as it is the clean renewable energy of the future. If we talk about the financial feasibilty. A poultry farm with an average 4600 kWh monthly usag with 27 kW peak power in an area of 5.4 peak sun hours will have a monthly billiung of 600 US Dollar. If we convert this farm to solar energy. The one time installation cost would be approx 20000 US dollar which will be break even in approx 33 months. After the break even the farmer will have a monthly benefit of 600 US dollars. Also the emissions of the farm will be zero. The product will be clean and pure.

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

The idea is to start by one farm. Convert it to Solar energy. Stop its emissions. After that slowly convert more farm in the area. Benefiting them financially and collectively reducing the overall emissions by the farms. Aware more and more farmers about its advantages through seminars, conference, farmers associations, magazine and media. Withing years a large number of farmers will eventually convert their farms to solar energy and collectively emissions will be reduced. If we get the big farmers like Poultry International to convert to solar energy, the rest will follow in the footsteps.
Sustainability

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

Conversion to solar energy is one time investment with very little maintenance. The life of a PV cell is around 25 years. Whereas break even of the project will be achieved very early than that. So the project will actually generate revenue after the break even

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

No other project is addressing the same problem as my idea.

Founding Story

My father owns a poultry farm in karachi Pakistan with more than 100,000 birds in it. Every month the bill of the energy requirement is very high and not only that, the energy failure every few days causes him to operate the farm on diesel generator. Which costs even more with the added disadvantage of CO2 emissions. When I got into the final year of my bachelors in Mechanical engineering I studied about Solar energy systems and also did my Final year project in the same area. I thought to myself why not apply this to my own dad's poultry farm. Not even my dad's poultry farm, this can be applied to any farm in the country with the same problem I thought. This lead me to this idea of converting the farms to Solar energy systems.

Audience: Who have you identified as your customer/recipient groups and do these groups value your solution for different reasons? How do you engage different customer/recipient groups to deliver your solution?

I have identified poultry farms in the area as the recipient of my idea.
These poultry farms face energy problems due to energy crises in the country causing them to use fossil fuels as energy. The recipient value of idea because of many facts including as solar energy being renewable energy with very less maintenance and one time investment and no emissions.

Scaling the solution: How would the prize money and publicity help you to achieve your objectives over the next two years?

I can reach poultry association and present them with my idea. They have good connections that would help local farmers in even remote areas with my idea. I could publish an article in world poultry magazine enabling the world wide farmers to be benefited with my idea. I could open a consulting firm aiming to help farmers get idea of this technology and profit them and the atmosphere.
