Project Summary
Elevator Pitch

Concise Summary: Help us pitch this solution! Provide an explanation within 3-4 short sentences.

"BLOOD ME" is an amazing phone app that connects all blood donors together by creating a virtual blood bank.In case of emergencies,it runs as a fast GPS locating the closest donors to the hospital with the needed blood type.

WHAT IF - Inspiration: Write one sentence that describes a way that your project dares to ask, "WHAT IF?"

What if "BLOOD ME" saves your best friend's life who needs an urgent blood transfusion after a deadly car crash.
About Project

Problem: What problem is this project trying to address?

First of all, it addresses blood deficits in hospitals especially in case of emergencies .After establishing a survey in my town's hospital i found out that there is absolutely no control over the blood incomes because blood bags have a 42 days life duration.so many bags get thrown without being used. Secondly, it aims to computerize the donation system which is old and relies on keeping the donors information in a big dusty register.

Solution: What is the proposed solution? Please be specific!

The solution is to create a phone app that will connect all donors together in a virtual blood bank which is connected to the hospital and locate them in case of emergencies .It will provide the hospital more control over the incomes by daily scheduled donations to keep a sustainable blood bags number. This app will radically change the donation system from old and slow to new and efficient.

Impact: How does it Work

Example: Walk us through a specific example(s) of how this solution makes a difference; include its primary activities.

Imagine that one of your dear friends had a car accident and suffered from a dangerous external hemorrhage, making him a prior patient for an urgent blood transfusion to compensate that blood lost.Arriving to the Er and after assessment of his injuries,he seem to be in need of a surgery to repair the damages but unfortunately the hospital's bank just run out of his blood type (O-).Using blood me, the bank will contact at least 15 closest donors with the same blood type and schedule emergency donations to do the surgery and save your friend's life.

Impact: What is the impact of the work to date? Also describe the projected future impact for the coming years.

-BLOOD ME will help having more control over the blood bank incomes,by registering 15 to 25 donations per day (adaptable to the need). At least 5 of them are new donors. -Donors can invite their friends and families and organize group donations, this will help enlarge the group and more people will hear about the app. -The app has a notification system that reminds the donor to come and donate blood every 4 months. -After every donation ,the hospital runs a full check up on the donated blood (BP, infectious diseases...),so the donor keeps a regularly health check up.In other terms it is as beneficial for him as for the receiver,Cause blood donation helps red cells regeneration and other amazing affects it has on the human body. -It will also allow the hospital to publish any sanitary education (health recommendations and /or restrictions).

Spread Strategies: Moving forward, what are the main strategies for scaling impact?

I hope that within two years of launching "BLOOD ME",the town's local and rural hospitals and health centers will fully use it. In four years,i hope the app gets adopted by all regional hospitals and in 6 years going national.
Sustainability

Financial Sustainability Plan: What is this solution’s plan to ensure financial sustainability?

The hospital will pay for the creation and maintenance of the app. However, i plan on charging the medical laboratories for using my app as platform for advertisements related to health products such as blood glucose meter, food supplements and others, in order to ensure the sustainability of the app in the long term run.

Marketplace: Who else is addressing the problem outlined here? How does the proposed project differ from these approaches?

As far as my research goes ,there's absolutely no such initiative in Algeria .All hospitals use the same system. To spread the word , i plan on promoting the app through social media ,posters and flyers but also using gifts, how? For every donation ,a printed t-shirt or a mug or a bracelet or a bag that say "1st ,2nd ,3rd ...etc time donor" or "Hero of the day , just gave blood" .
Team

Founding Story

The "Aha!" moment that led to the founding of this idea was a year ago ,when my scientific club and i organize a successful blood donation campaign that received more than 80 donors. While,it was ongoing i noticed two things. the first one : there was a big lack of certain blood types (A- ,B- and AB-). The second one : the doctor in charge took personal information and blood type of each potential donor in a big dusty register. She told me in the end, that almost every donor don't come back. So it was then when i thought about computerizing that register into a virtual blood bank that would have notification system to remind donors every 4 months .

Team

So far the team includes me as the CEO and the web and graphic designer. As the project evolves, i am sure that there will be more tasks that comes along with the progress of work ,and in time i will find the right people to do the job.

Great work my friend,

I think this app is very creative and it might save many lives. Keep up the great work and remember that changemaking is a journey and not a destination.

Here is my feedback, it might sound harsh but it is with good intentions.

I would suggest that you show some numbers and statistics on how many people die due to these problems and reference a source. Where are these problems and how come nobody else is effective in helping? Imagine having an elevator pitch that starts like this: Did you know that 1 in 5 patents die because they don’t have enough blood at the hospital banks? Not only there is no blood, but there is no way to manage blood information! Blood me is the solution to that. Blood me is …

What if:
Great!
Problem:
Establishing a survey is wonderful! Think of asking also doctors, patients, or victims about this problem and get their opinion. Understand the root cause of why there is no blood.
Solution:
I like it! Think of also how are you going to get people to download the app and commit at donating blood. What if they got a discount for donating blood? Think of ways to attract blood donors and keep them using the app.

None YET ;)
Example:
Great!
Impact:
I like it.
Full impact potential:
Look for a repeatable and scalable model that is simple and powerful. Once that model is developed the full impact could be reached. This is a very strategic part. Think of creating a repeatable and scalable model that is simple to replicate and there is a source of revenue to keep it sustainable. Think of a vision statement, if all goes to plan what do you achieve? What would you impact be? Set a vision that you want to accomplish and then everything that you do should be to reach that point. A cool vision statement that I like is from Oxfam: A just world without poverty. Think of something simple but also that makes you strive to achieve.
Remember you are not promoting an app! You are saving lives, that is why you create the app. So I believe that the blood app is the first step of many to saving lives.
Finance:
Great! This will determine if you app spreads or not, think creatively.

Marketplace:
Good. How do they currently get blood when there is no blood in the hospital banks?
Founding Story:
Great story!
Team:
So far you would have convinced me to invest in your but my reservation would be that you don’t have a team. The most important part of this application is the team. We believe that you need to inspire others to be part of the team, and then together with them make a difference. The team members should be all people who believe in the vision that you all design together.

A good comment mentor Dida and I share your advice about this :) (excuse me for my english language)
