Dennis Whittle is Director and co-founder of Feedback Labs, a network of leading aid and philanthropy organizations developing new tools to better listen to and act on the views of the people they serve. From 2012-2014, he was Executive Chairman of Ashoka Changemakers. He is co-founder of GlobalGiving, where he served as CEO from 2000-2010. GlobalGiving has matched over $180 million from hundreds of thousands of donors and companies to 12,000 projects in 162 countries. He has been a Visiting Fellow at the Center for Global Development, Professor of the Practice and Social Entrepreneur in Residence at UNC-Chapel Hill, and Visiting Lecturer at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School. Previously, he was an economist at the World Bank (1986-2000), where he lived and/or worked for many years in Indonesia and Russia. His team there also created the Development Marketplace in early 2000. which has been replicated over seventy times around the world. In 1984-85, Dennis worked for the Asian Development Bank and USAID in the Philippines, where he was an extra in one of Chuck Norris's best movies, Missing in Action (1984). Prior to that, he was a short-order cook and busboy at several restaurants, including the late Oasis Restaurant in Leitchfield, KY and the Porthole in Chapel Hill, NC.
