AUSER AUSER is an Italian NGOs which aims at promoting the self-management of services and actions for solidarity, supporting the right of older people to continue to play an active role on a social and culture level by making the most of their specific experiences, skills and abilities. The mission of the AUSER Association is to advance social rights and promote older people’s work as volunteers in several areas of activity such as social utility services, training and education, and international solidarity. Auser is based on a network of 1.300 local and regional sites (or offices) all over Italy and over 300.000 members and 45.000 volunteers. The elderly are engaged as volunteers in several activities in different fields: - Training and education: setting up the Third Age Popular Universities; - Health education; - Solidarity: developing the Filo d&amp;#039;Argento associations, which are local telephone helplines for older people needing psychological and practical support; - Social utility: finding ways of valuing the artistic, cultural and environmental heritage of traditional craft and skills. - International solidarity. On a European level, the AUSER Association is a member of SOLIDAR, a European network of 59 NGOs active in over 90 countries working to advance social justice in Europe and worldwide.
