Bio:
Leah Marie Lucas, an experienced and energetic young leader, is committed to working for solutions to combat global hunger and poverty. A graduate of Grinnell College, Lucas studied Poverty and Progress in the Americas, and worked as an Oxfam America Change Leader. She has held internships focused on food security and sustainable development with the World Food Prize Foundation, USDA, and NGOs in India, Brazil, Bolivia, Guatemala, and in Washington D.C. She was named a Fulbright scholar for Mozambique, where she will study the impact of biofuel policies on smallholders’ land rights and economic development.

Indigenous Guatemalan women struggle to afford sufficient basic healthcare products such as feminine pads. Our reusable product, Pads for the Planet, based on the Days for Girls model, offers local women an economic alternative which reduces the problematic waste that disposable products create.
