BIO / Curriculum Vitae of Louis Michael Green PERSONAL DETAILS FULLE NAMES: Louis Michael Green 1951 - Born in District Six, Cape Town on l2th October. 1977 - married Elizabeth Ann Smit. They have two children, a 30 year old son, Jason and a 21 year old daughter, Dawn. PRESENT ADRESS: Cape Town, South Africa ACADEMIC CAREER 1974 - Completed B.A.(Law) degree, in 1974, at the University of the Western Cape, majoring in Private Law, Constitutional Law and English. At U.W.C., active in A.C.S. and later served on the Council of the A.C.S. for many years. 1980 - Completed three part-time courses at U.C.T.: Library Management, Bibliocultural Studies, and Readership and Book Selection for the Higher Diploma in Library Science and Informatics. WORK HISTORY 1971: Worked at S.A. Nylon Spinners as a laboratory assistant where he received a bursary to further his studies at U.W.C. 1975: Temporary teacher at Bonteheuwel High School 1976 - 1980: Library assistant at Cape Town City Library. 1981 - 1988: Teacher at Modderdam Secondary School 1989: Full time organiser for the Western Cape Teachers' Union, 1993: Founded the Marginalised and unemployed People's Project (MUPP) under the auspices of A.C.S., which he directed until December, 1993. 1994: Served as the ACDP Western Cape convenor until elected to the office as member of Parliament for the ACDP, in the National Assembly during May, until 2005 1994: Elected as Vice President of the African Christian Democratic Party 2005: Elected as President of the Federation of Democrats 2009: Completed 15 years of active politics and Parliamentary work 2010: Retired from active political life
