Born number 6 in a family of 8 in Bulambuli district in Uganda, Nathan holds a diploma in education from the institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo University (Uganda), a BA in social sciences (Psychology) from Makerere University (Uganda), a Master of Philosophy from Cambridge University (UK); and is pursuing a PhD in criminology at Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg, Germany. He worked in Uganda as a teacher and tutor in secondary and technical schools; was elected a political representative to the local government council in 2001; was a consultant for the Norwegian refugee council in northern Uganda 2007 – 2008 ; and was a programs coordinator for a regional anti-corruption coalition in Uganda 2008-2009 before embarking on the PhD program.

VAT buys assets and gives them to persons on loan, who pay periodically through a telesaving process. When complete, the assets become theirs indefinitely.

The empowerment academy is a restoration project that supports marginalized and exploited persons to realize and harness their skills potentials and change their socioeconomic destinies. Paying activities in which to work, earn and contribute to support others are initiated for and with them. They become entrepreneurs and face social injustices such as domestic violence through economic power.

Infant care and education (ICE) aims at giving all children the necessary pre-primary school care and education to enable them fit in formal education and achieve in their adult lives.

I imagine my life as a young college graduate in Uganda. I went through the education process hoping to work in some office only to find no such office anywhere. I went to my village to do gardening but my community expected me in an office. I got ridiculed as either a bewitched boy or not sharp enough! This is the life most school leavers are leading in Uganda. The empowerment academy breaks this gap in the education process in Uganda. It trains youths in skills to use to provide relevant services to their immediate communities such as hair dressing and child care.

African Community Team Support (ACTS) envisions turning despised persons who are victims of violence, exploitation & marginalization into community vital service providers by not only rehabilitating but occupying them in meaningful employment.
