Our vision is to empower people to provide access to safe drinking water with the strength of entrepreneurship. More than 800 million people around the world do not have access to safe drinking water; 4,000 children die because of contaminated water every day. We, a group of students from Munich as part of Enact Munich e.V., are developing a sustainable, economic concept. Our focus is a waterfilter easily made out of local materials, such as clay and used coffee grounds that purifies water of bacterial contamination. In our pilot project in Kibwigwa, Tanzania, we create together, with our people in need, a business model in order to build the filter and sell it at an affordable price. At the same time, we raise awareness of the importance of safe water through trainings in collaboration with the local community. Thus, we develop new economic opportunities to people and provide access to safe drinking water. This year, we flew down to Tanzania twice to educate our first Waterpreneurs locally and jointly opened our first shop to start the sale of waterfilter. In the next step, we will ensure that our social business model will become a self-sustainable system on a long-term basis by extending it through our train-the-trainer concept to other regions. For this reason, we will travel to Tanzania in March 2016 once again, because the personal training of people in business management, the crucial, accurate building of the waterfilter and the importance of clean drinking water are essential for the realization of our vision.
