Traditionally for decades, wheelchair users are not the target clients for taxi industry because the design of taxi vehicles is not user friendly and cost effective to meet their needs. Transportation of wheelchair users becomes the social service subsidized by government or the illegal service operated without taxi licenses. Either of the above is not sustainable when the population is rapidly aging.
