Somsak Boonkam

My name is Somsak Boonkam, but all my friends call me Pai. I was born and raised in rural Thailand where I developed a deep appreciation for the ingenuity of indigenous culture and the role of sustainable production. I have a degree in Petrochemicals and Polymeric Materials Engineering and have just completed an MBA in Sustainable Management at Presidio Graduate School. I am fluent in both English and Thai and have worked in a variety of cross-cultural settings. My goal is to bring the wisdom of indigenous people to the mass market in order to develop sustainable products that have a positive impact on the society. There are three themes that have defined my career and education: engineering great manufacturing systems, developing sustainable businesses and creating social innovation. I spent four years working as head production engineer for a printer roller company, two years studying sustainable business practices at Presidio, and countless hours developing and practicing design thinking and innovation through workshops and projects.
