My project is a brand new / emerging idea

Project Stage

Pilot-Stage (We’ve tried an activity or two)

Founding Story: What was the spark that led you to start your project? What was the "Aha!" moment that led you to get started and see the potential for this to succeed?

Most of my high school school mates had issues around mental health and seemed to lack proper guidance on how to manoeuvre through life. I started the CARRIER initiative hoping that I could help.

The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve? Why does it matter to you and your community?

Ignorance amongst the youths, especially in my high school, is the main thing that fueled me to come up with the project. I feel like if everyone knew about their purpose in life, potential and abilities early enough it would really contribute in making not only the person but also the whole world a better place.

Your Solution: How are you solving this problem? Share your specific solution.

In the CARRIER initiative,we hold daily online discussions and weekly webinars that offer guidance to all the members about a particular selected topic.

Impact: How has your project created impact / made a difference so far? Or, if at an early stage, what will impact look like?

We currently have 80 active participants and beneficiaries of the daily discussions and weekly webinars. The 80 are only from my former high school. We are hoping to bring on board at least 2000 more youths or 20 more schools in the next one year.

Your Innovation: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there? How is your project new or innovative?

In my project, most suggestions and strategies on conduction of activities of the initiative comes from the members. There's also no particular leadership structure. Everyone is basically leader because it's youth-led.

How many people are on your team?

80

Your team: What role(s) do your team members play? How do you share leadership with them?

We have an executive team(Chairperson,Vice Chairperson, General Secretary and Organising secretary)just for professionalism purposes. Since the major activity is online group discussion, the major role of the executive members is to always be at the forefronts in steering the discussions. The executive members also help to mobilise all the members to participate, attend and even invite others to the weekly webinars.

What’s Next: What are the next steps you plan to take to grow or strengthen your project over the next year? If your project is still in the idea stage, describe the steps you will take over the next three months to launch or begin developing it.

I am planning to make it more formal. I want to create it's website and also create an official registration link/form that I will be using during the mass registration period where we'll be inviting more youths to be part of the initiative. I am also scouting for potential partnerships that will help me to grow the initiative.

How do you encourage other people to join your project or learn about the problem you’re working on? If you have a new idea, tell us how you will do this in the future.

Most of the marketing is done online through the initiative's online platforms. Once we have an official website and registration link,, we'll proceed and invite potential members, patners and collaborators.
