Project Stage

Idea (We’re hoping to get started in the future)

Founding Story: What was the spark that led you to start your project? What was the "Aha!" moment that led you to get started and see the potential for this to succeed?

The hint of my project is when I was at school I witnessed a lot of shortage of maize flour and being the stable food of our country Kenya I looked upon coming up with the solution to solve it and it was not only within the school but also the Community outside was struggling to access to maize flour, kales and yams and due to high demand there is inflation of price making it difficult for people to acquire them. I sure that my project could solve this problem .

The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve? Why does it matter to you and your community?

The problem I'm helping to solve is the food shortage in our Community. The problem matters alot as people are struggling much accessing to them rather than spending their time to work and develop the Community and country at alarge this has also led to school dropout of students because their parents spend much money on purchasing maize flour, kales and yams this matter alot to me because when youths dropout of schools who will be there to save the Community tomorrow?.The shortage of food has led to increase number of robbery with violence to acquire this agricultural products in demand this has led to insecurity in our Community and our country at large.

Your Solution: How are you solving this problem? Share your specific solution.

1)Planting maize , kales and yams 2)creating awareness on importance of farming 3) Donating maize flour to the Community 4) Expanding my land capacity to yield more products that can sustain the Community 5) Seeking support from organizations to support my project 6) Establishing irrigation to support farming 7) Donating seeds to the Community 8) Seeking partnership from other organizations 9) Giving our scholarship to students in the Community 10) Promotion of employment to the people from the Community.

Impact: How has your project created impact / made a difference so far? Or, if at an early stage, what will impact look like?

By increasing the production of food through improved systems and by involving the advancements of technology in the agricultural sector im hoping that we will be able to increase the production of food that will be adequate for the Community and schools and this will also create employment opportunities to the people from the same Community thus solving food problem at the same time provides opportunities to the members of the Community at large

Your Innovation: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there? How is your project new or innovative?

My solution is unique in approach as I'm involving technology in solving food shortage in our Community there are those who tried but unfortunately they did not make because they did not involve the advancements of technology in solving the shortage of food.I also involving NGO's organizations to support my project unlike them who only depended on the government for donation , they only focused on the people from the Community leaving out schools but for me I'm working with both teams, the other teams failed because they did not involve the people from the local Community as they were goverment agents for me I'm involving the Community and their ideas together to come up with a strong decisions that will clear up food shortage in our Community.

How many people are on your team?

10

Your team: What role(s) do your team members play? How do you share leadership with them?

I involve so much my team in my research because when we work together we make work easy, they help me in finding out the information from the local people, what they demands, ,some give out the financial support to do our project, some interprets the local languages because the Community is build up by people from different backgrounds.

What’s Next: What are the next steps you plan to take to grow or strengthen your project over the next year? If your project is still in the idea stage, describe the steps you will take over the next three months to launch or begin developing it.

The next step we are planning to partner with NGO's so that they can donates funds to us and support our projects because the biggest challenge for our team is inadequate funds to run our programs and also reaching out to the people to donate funds to our project and government agents

How do you encourage other people to join your project or learn about the problem you’re working on? If you have a new idea, tell us how you will do this in the future.

I would encourage people to come up clearly so that we can work together to solve this problem of food shortage because it affects the Community at alarge it doesn't affect the specific person.I have engaged over a thousand people moreso young people from schools and 500 elderly leaders to just share my ideas to them and on how we can collaborate to solve the problem of food shortage in our Community.
