Project Stage

Idea (We’re hoping to get started in the future)

Founding Story: What was the spark that led you to start your project? What was the "Aha!" moment that led you to get started and see the potential for this to succeed?

I started Future Roots because I realized that many students don’t have basic school supplies like notebooks, pencils, and pens. I wanted to find a way to help students who don’t have the same access to educational resources as others. After learning more about the challenges students face in Africa, I realized that even something as simple as donating school supplies could make a real difference. This inspired me to create Future Roots, with the goal of helping students get the supplies they need to learn, succeed, and build a better future.

The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve? Why does it matter to you and your community?

Many students in Africa do not have supplies for school such as notebooks, pencils, pens, and calculators. Because of this, many children struggle to attend and participate in school activities. I believe that students should not be held back from receiving an education based on their ability to pay for what is needed to learn. I care about this issue because I feel that every student deserves a fair opportunity to learn and succeed.

Your Solution: How are you solving this problem? Share your specific solution.

Future Roots will raise money through donations and fundraisers to purchase basic educational supplies such as notebooks, pencils, pens, and calculators. The supplies will then be given to schools and students who need them. Future Roots will work with schools and organizations to make sure the supplies reach the students who will benefit from them. As the organization grows, it will expand its efforts to reach more students and communities.

Impact: How has your project created impact / made a difference so far? Or, if at an early stage, what will impact look like?

Future Roots is going to focus on providing educational supplies to students in need and spread to schools and communities worldwide one day, and the company will monitor the impact by observing how many students and institutions have been helped and how many educational supplies have been distributed. Future Roots is going to make education more accessible and give children the resources they need to have a learning environment, and succeed in life.

Your Innovation: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there? How is your project new or innovative?

Future Roots will be different because it will focus on getting basic school supplies directly to students who need them. Instead of only raising awareness about education inequality, Future Roots will turn donations into real supplies that students can use in their classrooms. We will start with simple materials like notebooks, pencils, pens, and calculators and eventually expand to reach more schools and communities. Our goal will be to make a direct and measurable difference in students’ education.

How many people are on your team?

4

Your team: What role(s) do your team members play? How do you share leadership with them?

Our team has four members, including me. I will lead Future Roots, while the other members will help with fundraising, outreach, social media, and organizing projects. We will divide responsibilities and work together to make decisions and grow the organization.

What’s Next: What are the next steps you plan to take to grow or strengthen your project over the next year? If your project is still in the idea stage, describe the steps you will take over the next three months to launch or begin developing it.

Over the next year, Future Roots will focus on building our team, raising funds, connecting with schools and organizations, and organizing our first major supply donation. We will also work on growing our social media presence and reaching more supporters. As we gain experience, we will expand to more schools and communities.

How do you encourage other people to join your project or learn about the problem you’re working on? If you have a new idea, tell us how you will do this in the future.

Future Roots will encourage other people to get involved by informing them on the mission of the organization through the use of social media, hosting school or community events, fundraisers, and reaching out to our contacts within the community to gain more insight and recruit people to join the organization. We will inform people of the need for basic supplies in schools and how they can help us achieve our goal. We will also encourage the student body and community members to volunteer to help us or donate to our organization. Furthermore, as the organization grows, we will give more people opportunities to help us reach our goal.
