Project Stage
Idea (We’re hoping to get started in the future)
Founding Story: What was the spark that led you to start your project? What was the "Aha!" moment that led you to get started and see the potential for this to succeed?
I was volunteering at a certain interior school and I realized that sometimes poverty can really incapacitate a learners ability to thrive, mental peace is also important as some kids are dealing with abuse and rape but still expected to be stable enough to be competent in school, that I learnt from working with another NGO, (SHOFCO).
The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve? Why does it matter to you and your community?
I interacted one on one with such student and being a youth I dearly felt their struggle. I believe that not many people get the chances that smoothen their life paths but aiding in eradicating the bumps on the path gives them hope of a better and smoothet tomorrow, of course through hardwork.
Your Solution: How are you solving this problem? Share your specific solution.
I have so far tried after school tutoring, I have also offered counseling session to some and insights accordingly, I have tried buying some reading materials and donated to some of them with my little savings but it's never enough.
Impact: How has your project created impact / made a difference so far? Or, if at an early stage, what will impact look like?
My project is still on an early stage due to lack of funds considering that I'm not well of too, but at least some of the students I tutor are showing exemplary improvement and that's my joy.
Your Innovation: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there? How is your project new or innovative?
I am able to interact one on one with the kids, listen to their problems, feel their emotional draining strates, see them struggle through downfall and still show them how to push even firmer as they shape their desired futures
How many people are on your team?
4
Your team: What role(s) do your team members play? How do you share leadership with them?
GEORGINA. R. OMINDE- volunteers, advices and visits suffering kids in marginalized areas, offering support where she can i.e appealing for education bursaries. HAZEL WINFREY KWENA-helps nature kids with talents to keep off unnecessary pressure from home. PETER NGUNJIRI MWANGI-visits children in children's home and listens to them guiding them accordingly. And I-GIANINA BENA- volunteer.
What’s Next: What are the next steps you plan to take to grow or strengthen your project over the next year? If your project is still in the idea stage, describe the steps you will take over the next three months to launch or begin developing it.
Look for sponsors because inadequate funds is the biggest obstruction to such change.
How do you encourage other people to join your project or learn about the problem you’re working on? If you have a new idea, tell us how you will do this in the future.
I write proposal to sponsors, call supervisors to come and assess the students during volunteering so that they meet them one on one
