Founding Story: What was the spark that led you to start your project? What was the "Aha!" moment that led you to get started and see the potential for this to succeed?
My inspiration came from watching a movie with colourful buildings and visiting schools with encouraging words on their walls. I imagined how wonderful it would be if my own school could have such a beautiful and motivating environment. This inspired me to start School Uplift, a project that will transform neglected spaces into welcoming places that encourage learners to enjoy school and learning.
How do you encourage other people to join your project or learn about the problem you’re working on? If you have a new idea, tell us how you will do this in the future.
Our 10-member team will share the School Uplift vision with students, teachers, parents, and community members. We will invite them to contribute ideas, materials, and practical support. Through school meetings, photographs, and progress updates, we will show how small changes can create a better learning environment and encourage other schools to adopt similar ideas.

Impact: How has your project created impact / made a difference so far? Or, if at an early stage, what will impact look like?
School Uplift is still at the idea stage. We hope to make school more welcoming, motivate learners, and create a better environment for teaching and learning. Our team of 20 members will work towards improving neglected spaces and encouraging school pride. We will measure our progress by tracking completed improvements and gathering feedback from students and teachers. We also hope other schools will adopt our idea.

The Problem: What problem are you helping to solve? Why does it matter to you and your community?
Some learners find school uninteresting, and an unattractive environment can make learning less enjoyable. At my school, flooding has affected the compound and field, while plain walls and neglected spaces make the environment less inspiring. I believe our surroundings influence how we feel and learn. Every learner deserves a welcoming environment that encourages curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning.

What’s Next: What are the next steps you plan to take to grow or strengthen your project over the next year? If your project is still in the idea stage, describe the steps you will take over the next three months to launch or begin developing it.
Over the next three months, we will identify areas needing improvement, seek school approval, estimate costs, and gather materials. We will approach parents, local businesses, and community members for support. Once we have the necessary resources, we will begin by planting flowers and decorating a selected area. We will document our progress, collect feedback, and plan how to expand the project.
Your Innovation: What is different about your project compared to other programs or solutions already out there? How is your project new or innovative?
School Uplift combines environmental improvement, creativity, and education. Instead of focusing only on classrooms, we will transform the wider school environment through flowers, colourful artwork, motivational quotes, and field improvements. Students will help design and maintain these spaces, building teamwork and responsibility. Our approach aims to be affordable, practical, and easy for other schools to adapt.
Your Solution: How are you solving this problem? Share your specific solution.
We will plant flowers around the school, decorate walls with colourful artwork and motivational quotes, and improve our flood-affected field. We will explore suitable drainage and landscaping options to make the field safer and more useful. Our team will work with teachers and students to plan, implement, and maintain these improvements, creating a more beautiful and inspiring learning environment.
Your team: What role(s) do your team members play? How do you share leadership with them?
Our team has 10 members, including me. We will share ideas, plant flowers, design wall displays, and help maintain the improved spaces. Each member will contribute according to their abilities, working together with teachers and school leaders to make School Uplift successful.
